Youth For Green Growth #Y4GG

This project is funded by the OAK Foundation. It is designed to create an enabling environment for youth-led action that promotes and advances the Green Growth and Sustainable Development agenda in Tanzania.

The project provides an increased number of placements on our Expedition programme, so that more Tanzanian youth receive training and experiential learning opportunities. The project also supports organisational strengthening of the Raleigh Tanzania Society to enable young Tanzanian women and men to address social and environmental developmental issues at grass root and national levels. One of the four Youth For Green Growth outcomes is the improved ability of youth to engage with decision makers and contribute to decision making on sustainable development and play a role in influencing the green growth agenda.

So far two conferences have taken place, one in Dar es Salaam, and one in Dodoma, where youth have had the opportunity to engage with decision makers in government, and from the public and private sectors, on the subject of green growth policy and sustainable resource management.

The project has also enabled each society region to run it’s own tree-planting and awareness raising campaigns.
